RJAA / NRT - Tokyo Narita - Narita Tobu Hotel - January 2026

I spent 2 nights in the Narita Tobu Hotel at Tokyo Narita Airport NRT / RJAA. I asked for a high room facing the cargo area because I felt that this runway had a better chance of covering all movements as the northern runway is used for arrivals usually. The hotel gave me room 1264,  This was a great position and allowed views as requested. It was a 2 bed room and is reasonably priced. There's was a lift near the room and the lift are allowed views over the northern runway to allow aircraft that may not been seen for a while to be seen. I used the hotel transfer bus to go to terminal 2 and its viewing area.

ROAH/OKA - Okinawa - The Senagajima Storyline Hotel - October 2025

I stayed here on night arriving in the evening,  I stayed in room 602 which gave views full length views of 36R / 18L.  As well as good views of the Mil ramps and the terminal in the distance.  I had a night there and checked out at 10am as required,  However the hotel allows you to use the 8th floor roof bar and the area around the rooftop pool for an extra ¥2500 / £12.50.  This allow use access to limited refreshments.

From the 8th floor pool area you can see the whole of runway 36L / 18R.  Attached is a view of the airport from the roof.

RJGG/NGO - Nagoya - Comfort Hotel - October 2025

I stayed the 2 nights at the Comfort Hotel staying in room 715, which is a standard 1 Queen Bed room. I arrived in the evening after dark so wanted somewhere close to the airport which might gain me a few numbers. This hotel was good for room / ADSB after dark spotting as your able to see aircraft approach to the threshold of 36 and appear from over the terminal as the depart 36. I Suspect had they been on 18 I would have been able to see aircraft appear over the terminal. The Airport is relatively quite however the old airport and the B787 in the Dream of flight museum were a needed stop. There Is a restaurant but there’s a covers walkway to the terminal for the Viewing area and restaurants and Minimart,

ROAH/OKA - Okinawa - Loisir Hotel & Spa Tower, Naha - October 2025

This is not an airport hotel but a hotel with a view. Situated close to the port on the north side of the Kokuba River at the estuary with the East China Sea. Note that there are other hotels with similar names so if wanting to stay here ensure you are booking the correct location.
There are two separate blocks for this hotel.  You need to book a high floor room facing the pool.  If a high floor is not an option when booking, then a request for a high floor should be submitted with the booking.  The other block does not have an outside swimming pool, so booking a ‘pool view’ should guarantee a view.

We had twin rooms 1012 and 1013.  On this floor, any room from 1012-1024 should be okay. All rooms have a balcony, from which you can observe departures and arrivals across the river at Naha. Movements into Kadena & Futenma sometimes pass close by the hotel also. Electronic aids are required though.

RJCC/CTS - New Chitose Airport - Airport Terminal Hotel - July 2025

I stayed in the airport terminal hotel, where some rooms overlook the ramp/runway.  These are rooms ending in *29 to *69, and from the hotel fire plan these seem to be smaller rooms with a one-and-a-half sized bed. Larger rooms (double/twin?) face inwards to the terminal and end in *01 to *29.  However as Japan has great viewing facilities, not too much overnight activity, and a lot of repetition, I don't think a runway view is a necessity here.

RJAA / NRT - Tokyo Narita - Marroad International Hotel Narita - November 2024

I booked the Marroad International Hotel Narita directly. Initially although they showed Runway view rooms, they could not be booked, but 3 months to the day before the trip they became bookable. I had room 1296 and the view was excellent from the 12th floor. A selection of photos can be found here on Flickr.

Rooms with views South towards Terminal 1 were 602, 604, 606, 608, 610, 612, 614, 616, 618, 620, 622, 624 & 626 - 626 is by a end of corridor window. Floors 7 & 8 were the same layout. Higher would be better but the 6th floor was fine for watching departures once the observation decks were closed.

In the morning, I actually decided to stay in the room for an extra hour taking pics, rather than going to the T1 deck at opening time. Overnight they had changed to arrive from the North. The room only allowed arrivals and departures on 16R to be seen so eventually I needed to leave. But it should be pointed out the breakfast was on the 13th floor and from there it was possible to see both runways. So, you could also probably enjoy a few beers in the evening up there in the bar/restaurant.

RJFF/FUK - Fukuoka - Grand View - April 2024.

Fukuoka FUK

Hotel: Grand View

Room: High floor city view £50

Info: For me, this place is not to be missed if travelled all this way! Fantastic new domestic decks were enjoyed for the rest of the day until darkness. Headed to the Grandview Hotel 20 min walk away located just southeast of the eastern threshold. High floor room gave views of the short final in front and the eastern domestic stands. Handy for a kip, but no point hanging around in the morning as straight back onto the terraces. Very average brekkie but hotel shuttle was convenient. Airside for flight to KIX via HND for a couple of hours.

RJTT/HND - Tokyo Haneda - Royal Park - April 2024.

Hotel: Royal Park

Room: Premium Comfort Double £80

Late arrival to HND and headed to T3 to check straight into hotel. View of the T3 cul de sac and runways. Nice and convenient, and handy for an early start on the terraces the next day.  The hotel for the night was the Royal Park Hotel in the terminal at Haneda. Check in is automatic so there didn’t seem to be a way to ask for a specific room but any even numbered room on a high floor should provide a view out over the international terminal we had room 822 and the view was great.

RJAA / NRT - Tokyo Narita - Narita Airport Hilton - March 2024

We made our way via a taxi straight to the Airport Hilton which whilst not one of the normal hotels used by spotter was going to give us a view of both runways we were allocated room 1232 which was perfect but +/- 5 on this room number would be fine. The view is from a slightly offset position just past the threshold of runway 16R and over Cargo and T1. With runway 34R/16L in the background. So nothing will be missed.

RJTT/HND - Tokyo Haneda - Tokyo Metropolitan Hotel - October 2023

Our base for our stay was the Tokyo Metropolitan Hotel at Tokyo Haneda.  This new 4* hotel is located close to Terminal 3 and was 50% cheaper than  the Royal Park or Villa Fontaine Grand hotels which are next to T3 Rooms between 23 and 31 on floors 8, 9 or 10  give good views of movements but you need to be quick to get the departures from 04/22 so rooms 23/24/25 are probably the best due to the better angle. These rooms are known as the airport view rooms and have a small premium (<£6 per night).

In addition to the obvious spotting from the room option there is a roof top terrace which overlooks the airport which I'm sure you could stay on all day but as the viewing deck at T3 is so close in my view there isn't much point in doing so.

To get there you need to head for the Tenkubashi station, cost <£1 from the airport, on either the Monorail or Kekio line. Close by is the Keikyu Ex Inn which is on the other side of the river and evidently also gives airport views.

The hotel was booked via Bookings.com  and were understanding when we had to request a cancellation for our first nights pre paid booking  at the last moment due to being unable to get on the direct HND flight from LHR.
