Welcome - Spottinghotels.org

Welcome to www.spottinghotels.org the bible for information on hotels where you can spot from.  We launched the site in late 2025 and hope to make this the go to site for hotels with a view!  We have 250 reports and that keeps climbing thanks to those who contribute.

To be a continued success we will need your support.  We want to add more reports and add extra detailed information to those already there.  We want to keep this site up to date and valued by those that use it.

If you have new reports, additional notes on any of the report or just a photos to share that allow a better perspective please send them to admin@spottinghotels.org and we will upload them on the site.  Even if you don't have anything to add to a report let us know everything is still valid and we can update the date.

WMKK/KUL - Kuala Lumpur International - Tune Hotel KLIA Aeropolis - August 2026

I booked this hotel rather than the hotel of the same brand at KLIA2 as it was much cheaper, about £20 per night which helped a solo traveller. If you want luxury and spotting from your room then this probably isn’t for you but… I did very well here.

Allocated a room with no airport view I ventured up to the 5th floor landing which gave a view of two approaches and the third behind KLIA2 in the distance. Departures were easy to see. Aircraft taxiing in front of KLIA1 or using the middle runway can be read off.

It doesn’t matter what room you get here, as you can freely move around the balconies and levels, much like American motels, although it makes sense to hang around outside your own room rather than somebody else’s. there are five floors to this hotel, as ever the highter the metter but the third would be as low as you would want to go. I had room 415 which worked perfectly fine for me. I would recommend 5th floor rooms 510 through to 518 for good views of runways 33/15 & 32L/14R. With a little bit of moving around the building, you can also cover the remaining runways 32R/14L. As the arrivals were from the South to the North, this hotel served us well. Depending on the cloudbase, you might also catch some Firefly ATRs coming/going from Subang.

I was quite happy to spend most of the day up there with plenty of drink (the sun can be brutal here). Electronic assistance is needed for much stuff, especially the far runway and at night but the WiFi worked well.

Generally they landed from the north towards me, the early morning landings from the south passed very close. The rooms are small and very basic. I guess they’re designed for short stays so me being there for three nights must have been unusual. There’s no TV or kettle, I could live with that. There is a restaurant here and the food is reasonable with a decent reasonably priced buffet breakfast. There is a food hall across the road where bigger bottles of drink can be purchased as can some interesting local food if you’re brave enough (some of it can be quite spicy), but it shuts before evening. be warned the rooms only have two awkwardly located plug sockets and the proximity to the Cargo village makes it a noisy hotel.

To get to the hotel you need to get the free bus from the Tune hotel at the terminal, it runs every two hours. The viewing gallery in KLIA1 is still a good place for spotting, you can see this hotel from it (look over the cargo terminal and you will see the “Tune” sign, that is where you spot from).

EKCH/CPH - Copenhagen - Comfort Hotel - Aug 2026

I've stayed now (for work) a few times at the Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport. It can be reached easily from the terminal with a 5 minute walk. You can book a room with airport view during booking. These rooms are on floor 7 upwards, but the higher the better. From your room you will have a view on runway 04R-22L. If you're high enough, you can also see runway 04L-22R. You will also have a view on runway 12-30 but that one is not often in use. Photography is not possible as windows are quite narrow and very thick, the distance is also a thing.

If you haven't secured a room with a view, don't worry! On the 10th floor, they have created the "ViewRoom". This is a very nice space with full view of the airport. You will miss nothing from there but you'll need very good bins and FR24. Same as the hotel room, photography is near impossible due to the glass.  From the hotel, it's a 10-15 min walk to the approach path for runway 22L. It's close to the long-term parking P15 and P17. If you walk further down the road towards DHL, you can also take photos of aircraft departing from runway 04R if needed.

LFBO/TLS - Toulouse - NH Hotel - August 2026

The NH Hotel is connected to the main terminal (via Hall A, Departures level).  The hotel is at a 90 degree angle to the airport site, so no rooms look directly onto the airport.  However that said the hotel has a circular shape at the eastern side which helps with views.

There are 5 floors in total, but I think floors 3 and above will give views.  On the chart below (4th floor) green rooms are probably the best, with rooms ending *03 likely the optimum - these rooms give a view of approach to runways 14L/R or climb outs off 32L/R if the other direction is in use.  Green rooms also give a good view over some western parts of the Airbus factory site.

Yellow rooms also have a good view of approaches and climb outs, however the angle means less of the Airbus factory can be seen.

Blue shaded rooms have a view of approaches or climb outs in the opposite direction and very limited views onto the factory site.

GCXO/TFN - Tenerife North - TRH Taoro Garden - August 2026

This is not an Airport hotel but does provide view of the aproach to the airport from a holiday resort from a significant (30km) distance .

We where allocated a room on the fourth floor, any even room number works, booking a sea view will get this. The third floor if all else failed would work as still above the tree line around the hotel,  but requesting a high room with sea view should get the 4th floor.

I have attached a photo of the view North from the hotel room (432), departs from TFN (When on West Depts) would appear climbing from behind the ridge in the distance.  I've never had them land that way, but I would expect they are even easier to see.  Clearly low cloud would be the only problem on a lousy weather day!

LGAV/ATH - Athens - Airscape Hotel, Artemida, Athens - August 2026

Located just to the north of Athens Airport, this boutique hotel with around 10 rooms offers outstanding views of departures or arrivals, located in-between the east and west runway. The hotel reception is manned 24/7 and offers a free shuttle service to the airport via WhatsApp. The rooms are great with private balconies and 2 large communal balconies if required. Select a sea view room for the best views. We had 201 (a double) which has the largest private balcony, booked through Bookings.com. The hotel does not provide any food, but the nearest mini mart is a 10 min walk, whilst a local restaurant on the beach in Artemis offers pick ups or food drop off. We had a rental car and it was a 6min journey to the biz ramps.
