WSSS/SIN - Singapore - Crowne Plaza - January 2026

Stayed a night at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport.  Booked a runway view room.  All of these seem to be single rooms and not twins.  So I emailed a week before and asked them to add a roll away bed, which they happily did.  It’s expensive, but it’s by far the best placed hotel at SIN, and we only missed a couple of movements in around an 18 hour period.

The hotel is interconnected to T3.  We were allocated room 611 which is a bit lower than you’d ideally like 9th floor is the top floor, however they had nothing higher available.
Rooms x02-x12 will give a similar view (and I guess on the lower floors too) except x01/x03/x05/x07 which face the wrong way.
Room 909 - 912 offer the best views. Whilst 20C can't be seen from  the corridor outside the Sing AF A332 can be read off in the late afternoon.  Seletar arrivals and departures can be seen from the 9th floor as can Paya Lebar movements

Runway view rooms overlook runways 02L/20R, so you won’t miss anything on this runway as they are right in front of you.  To see the other runways 02C/20C and 02R/20L you need to leave your room and look through a gap on the other side of the hotel landing (across the top of the swimming pool).   With electronics it is easy enough, however we had to keep using the internal fire escape staircase to get the height we needed (walking up to the 8th or 9th floor is helpful) – for the whole time we visited they were landing / taking off on the 02’s - with 02L and 02C being used for all movements and 02R not used at all.

WSSS/SIN - Singapore Changi - Changi Beach Hotel - September 2024

We're staying at The Village Hotel, Changi (free shuttle bus) which is almost level with the threshold of 20R. You need floors 5 to 7, although some 5th floor rooms have trees in the way. I'm in 513 which has a queen-sized bed and can see arrivals on both runways, useful in the early hours because currently (5 a.m.) everything is landing on 20L. There is also a rooftop pool and bar. Although the food menu didn't particularly appeal to us, happy hour lasts all day for beers etc, and there are also loads of places to eat just along the road, including one called 'the food court' which was excellent, and from where you can still see arrivals on 20L. Departures can't be seen although some double back and fly over the hotel at around 10000 feet. Wifi is fairly strong and certainly more stable than our Bangkok hotel, and rooms have kettles and fridges.

There is also a 9th floor ‘secret room’ it Doesn’t take much to find it – exit the lifts on the 8th floor by the bar, head down the walkway past the swimming pool and you’ll see two doors to a building in front of you. This appears to be a function room.

If the doors are unlocked, then from that room there is a curved stairwell up to another function room which now technically makes it the 9th floor. If the function doors are locked, there is a fire escape stairway to your right which will lead straight up to the 9th floor room, if you first get over the fact that it takes you down first, before being able to go back up.

WSSS/SIN - Singapore - Aerotel T3 - March 2024.

Immediately after landing the widows fogged up with condensation blocking any views during taxi in. The trip was planned at relatively short notice and when I looked at Hotel prices I was shocked at the results, the Crone Plaza was over £400 a night for a non-airport view and the Changi Beach was over £300 and sold out before the trip started. I therefore decided to take the non standard option of booking a transit hotel and remaining airside for my 19 hour transit, the Hotel was £127 for 9 hours including a meal. It's worth noting the since covid Singapore has introduced an electronic ETA that must be completed prior to arrival but is not required for Transit passengers. They were landing on 02L and departing on 02C throughout the trip and I used various locations in the terminal to ensure very little was missed. After seven hours of wondering round  was time to check in to the Aerotel, in T3 which was simple enough, the rooms are small with no window and paper thin walls, the room I had booked did not have ensuite bathroom facilities but there were showers at the end of the corridor. Following an incident a few years back of someone living airside you are required to present your onwards booking prior to being allowed to check in. Having dumped my bags I then returned to the windows for three hours to pick off a bunch of needed 9V frames. By midnight I was down to just three in service local passenger frames, all of which were either already in Singapore or due in the next morning After four hours it was up and about to find my missing 9V frames.  At this point its worth highlighting the FR24 is very poor for advance notifications of flights throughout Asia and the aircraft only show their next flight when they start pinging, There are exceptions to this such as when aircraft are filed for Australia and show in advance, fortunately my Last Singapore Max was headed to Australia so I could walk down to the gate and pick it off. With all my in service 9V frames cleared up it was time to head to KL for the work element of the trip. Just a couple of final notes, the Singapore Airlines B77F's don't frequent Singapore much and only one or two will be seen in any 24 hour period,
