Knowing I was going to have a car in Vancouver I chose not to stay in the incredibly expensive Fairmont Hotel & instead plumped for the Radisson Blu, believing that some rooms would have airport facing rooms.
This proved to be correct, but despite requesting such a
room in advance & receiving an acknowledgement, a totally uninterested
Gentleman at Reception ignored me completely. The result being I was allocated
a room on the third floor which looked south-east more towards the Harbour
location than the airport itself. I realised that I could see arrivals on
26R…just…between trees & departures off 26L once they cleared the trees. It
wasn’t a satisfactory view however, so I used the car & parked at the Larry
Berg Flight Path Park where all the action could be seen.
I would suggest that higher room floors would give a
reasonable outlook of the airport and that more could be seen more easily. When
booking, you do not want to book a harbour facing room. However, the attitude
of the Staff didn’t make me want to promote this hotel to anyone in the future.
Hopefully, if you do stay here, you’ll have a better experience than I.
