Close by the entrance
road is the Hyatt place hotel. This is really the only option if staying on
site. The
hotel has 7 floors and I asked for a room at the rear facing towards the
runways. I was given room 701 which is a corner room and had the added
advantage of facing both North and West. This allowed all movements into MEL to
be monitored as a bonus. In fact very little was missed during the times that I
was back in the room. I was also able to monitor all movements on both the
Essendon runways. I should also mention that bolted onto the hotel is a pub
called Mr. McCracken. Very good selection of beers and superb food including
Pizzas straight from the pizza oven. I would recommend this over the Hotel
restaurant.
